I agree with Mike. PCB color and bundled software versions are subject to change without notice. A computer is no different, and with the amount of power in the G74SX, some serious cooling is needed. If you have an Atheros Wireless Network Adapter, be sure to upgrade the driver to 9. If my memory serves me correctly a big assumption in itself , there is a "Listen to this device" checkbox somewhere in the Microphone Properties in the Windows Sound dialog. On both laptops, the built in microphone is asuw up some loud feedback that crackles every couple seconds. Unfortunately, the microphone and webcam are more difficult to access. If that fails to resolve your issues, you're likely looking at a hardware problem.
